Student Club Funding Request

student-org

The Centralized Student Initiative Fund allows student groups to apply to various funding resources at once with one application.  The deadline for all departments (affiliates) of this application is centralized and all funding resources will receive the same application/budget. The funding application will occur three (3) times every year (summer, fall and winter). The form is hosted here.

The Centralized Student Initiative Funding Process is a program supported by alumni and friends, as well as departments and divisions of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering (FASE), and the Engineering Society. The program supports student initiatives that clearly demonstrate at least one or more of the following pillars:

1. Enhances the Undergraduate and/or Graduate student experience in the Faculty

2. Builds community among students and alumni

3. Contributes to leadership and/or professional development of students in the Faculty

4. Increases the visibility, profile and/or awareness of the Faculty, the Engineering Society, and/or the discipline of engineering itself

The applications for the Centralized Student Initiative Fund for the 2015-2016 academic years are as follows:

  • Summer 2015 – May 29, 2015 (MIE does not participate in the summer round)
  • Fall  2015 – October 2, 2015
  • Winter 2016 – January 29, 2016

Once the applications are submitted, the Faculty will contact student groups to provide pitches to the funding groups approximately 2 weeks after the deadline for each funding round.

The pitches will be 2 minutes long and should cover the following.

1. Brief introduction regarding the vision and purpose of your organization.

2. Brief statement on how your organization satisfies the 4 pillars of the CSIF.

3. Why your organization is applying to the sources of funding indicated on your application and how your organization intends to spend the money.

4. How the funding will benefit/improve the organization that you are applying to.

5. Any significant accomplishments your club has achieved within the last year.

Please send 1-2 member(s) of your organization to present the pitch to the panel.  Please note that after your pitch, the panel will have a 1-2 minute(s) Q/A session with your club’s representatives regarding your application.  The panel will contain representatives from the groups that you applied to funding from. It is encouraged that you dress business casual for the pitches.
